MAD’s audition-based performance program offering two Ensemble pathways: MADR and MADE.

About the Program

MAD’s Ensemble Program is an audition-based performance program for dancers ready to expand their training and performance experience beyond weekly classes. Through two distinct pathways—MADR (The Maryland Academy of Dance Rising) and MADE (The Maryland Academy of Dance Ensemble)—dancers are provided opportunities that align with their current training, readiness, and performance goals.

MADR offers an introductory Ensemble experience for developing dancers ready for more, while MADE provides an advanced competitive experience for dancers prepared for a higher level of training and commitment.

Both pathways develop confidence, artistry, teamwork, discipline, stage presence, and professionalism while providing opportunities to represent MAD through performances, community appearances, and competition experiences.

Program Offerings

MAD’s Ensemble Program provides dancers with an opportunity to extend their training beyond the classroom through additional rehearsals, performance experiences, community engagement, and competitive opportunities. The program offers two distinct audition-based pathways—MADR and MADE—designed to meet dancers at different stages of their technical and performance development.

The Maryland Academy of Dance Rising (MADR) is the introductory Ensemble pathway. MADR is designed for developing dancers who are ready for more while maintaining a manageable training, rehearsal, and performance commitment. Dancers gain experience in teamwork, stage presence, musicality, discipline, performance quality, and introductory competitive preparation.

The Maryland Academy of Dance Ensemble (MADE) is the advanced competitive Ensemble pathway. MADE is designed for dancers who demonstrate the technical proficiency, artistry, versatility, performance quality, discipline, and commitment required for a more intensive training and competitive experience.

Admission to both pathways is by audition. Ensemble placement considers each dancer’s audition performance, technical readiness, current training pathway, and demonstrated ability to meet the expectations of the program.

All Ensemble dancers are expected to demonstrate consistent attendance, preparation, teamwork, professionalism, and commitment while representing MAD in the studio, on stage, at competitions, and throughout the community.
