As a child the most important part of your development is the opportunity to play; understanding your mind and body through experimenting with movement. Even as an adult it is shown that "play" in the workplace can improve productivity by reducing stress levels and increasing creative thinking. Unfortunately, we live in a time where play is being taken out of our schools, especially in Baltimore City. Not only are children losing Physical Education class but, in some cases, recess as well.
This article not only reinforces the need for movement in schools but specifically mentions the importance of dance in school as equal to a math and reading curriculum. This article absolutely needed to be shared!
